You are not perfect

Life as a parent can be difficult because oftentimes you feel like you have to be the best at everything. But the truth is, you are human! You will make mistakes, you will have failures, and it’s normal. You shouldn’t seek perfection all the time. The moment you let go of the unrealistic goal to be the “perfect” parent, the more you will actually enjoy this life stage.

You will have days when you want to give up

There will be days when you feel like there’s no solution to your problems, and you just want to shout “Time out muna!” But when life gets tough, always remember the reason why you’re working hard. Even if you feel like you don’t have it in you to move forward, make it happen. Hang on for your children!

You will never get rid of doubt and guilt

You are not alone in feeling this way. Know that most parents ask themselves the same question. As you work hard, carve out some quality time with your kids. Make it a regular thing they can look forward to. Don’t just invest your efforts financially, they also want to be with you–just you. Again, it doesn’t always need to be grand, it’s the company that counts. A movie date once in a while, a quiet dinner at home, or even grabbing a quick ice cream at a food mart is gold!

You will sacrifice everything for your children

Every parent wants the best for their child, and so it’s essential to think of their future. Saving and planning is a wise thing to do. Yes, this entails a lot of sacrifice, especially on the parents’ end, but you know you’d move mountains to secure them a bright future. A lot of parents do this by getting insurance plans that help them plan ahead. Here’s an example of a really good one.

You are your kids' first hero, and first love

It’s funny that as you doubt yourself, your child actually sees you as the greatest person in the world. It’s so easy for us to forget that in their eyes, we are the most amazing thing that’s happened to them. And you know what? Being their hero is one of the most priceless things in this world–don’t take it for granted.

You are enough

There is no such thing as a parent manual. But through the years of being one, you’ve got to accept that your relationship is the most beautiful thing you could have. Despite the mistakes or failures, press on. That’s what counts, and that is what your child will remember and hopefully learn from.
