With so many things that need to be done and all the tasks to balance right now, there’s no doubt that moms out there may forget to take a step back once in a while to relax and recuperate. So to the hardworking moms, here’s your gentle reminder to take a few minutes for a mindfulness break!

Mindfulness breaks help your mind to stay on track and stay present. It's a perfect way to calm the mind and our nerves and especially as we brave through these uncertain times.

You might start to think that this might be a little tricky considering the time that we are living right now but we’re here to present you some simple tips on how to achieve this.

Take a step back and take a deep breath
Drop everything even just for five minutes and take a long, deep breath. Controlled breathing can help get your mind at ease especially with stressful tasks. Breathe in through your nose while you count to five, and then breathe out while you count to five as well. It’s super simple and super helpful!

Put on some music and dance a bit!
Letting loose to some good music will definitely help loosen tense muscles as well. It can also remind you that it won’t hurt to have a bit of fun every once in a while! Here’s a Spotify playlist that can help you get started with lettin’ loose.

Stay hydrated
A very important rule of every day! Hydrating regularly does wonders for both the body and mind, so keep a water jug with you all the time so you won’t forget. It is commonly recommended to drink around eight glasses of water or around two liters of water every day.

Stretch those muscles
Stand up from where you’re sitting, stretch those legs and arms, and reach for the sky. Even the simplest stretches can help tremendously! If you have time for a simple ten-minute yoga break, you may follow along with this yoga video.

Make some art
Art is therapeutic in so many ways, and you don’t have to be Michelangelo to do so! Playing around with colors and scribbles can help put your mind at ease. You can even use this as an opportunity to fill in some coloring book pages with your kid! But if you have extra time to spare and you would want to dedicate it to make some calming and easy-to-follow watercolor art, here’s a video that can guide you!

Observe your surroundings
Take a few moments to step out of your home and observe your surroundings. Being aware of what is around you at the moment will help train your mind to stay present especially when things get too hectic. You may also play some soothing background music to really help you get in the moment and at the same time make you feel calm.
